Orthodontists straighten teeth with braces and clear aligners; endodontists handle root canals; periodontists treat gum disease and place implants; oral and maxillofacial surgeons extract wisdom teeth, place implants and do jaw surgery, often under IV sedation; prosthodontists rebuild smiles with crowns, bridges and dentures; denture centers focus on full and partial dentures, relines and repairs. Sedation and hospital dentists serve anxious patients and people with special needs, while TMJ and sleep-apnea dentists make oral appliances for jaw pain and snoring.

Round Rock is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Getting around Round Rock is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. My families previous dentist moved away and we had to find a new dentist this year after my daughter broke her retainer. YIKES! My husband had actually came to Prairie Star Dental awhile back and stated he had a great experience with the staff and Dr Rawcliffe. My daughter had a new retainer in no time and we are very happy to have a new family local dentist who genuinely cares to connect with his patients.

I had been a patient at this practice for over two years and had never experienced any issues until recently. Unfortunately, after the experiences my mom and I have had, I will not be returning. About an hour before my appointment, I was told that I was required to have a panoramic X-ray and that my insurance would not cover it, leaving me with an $89 charge. While $89 itself is not the issue, I have been a patient here for two years and was told that panoramic X-rays are required every five years. If that is the practice's policy, I don't understand why this was being brought up for the first time two years into my care and only one hour before my appointment. The office staff was also visibly exasperated when I questioned it and told me I would need to sign a consent form declining the X-ray, which I did. What is even more concerning is that this happened shortly after my mom, who has also been a patient here for over two years, went in for a routine cleaning. She was later surprised by a bill for several hundred dollars because, apparently, her United Healthcare insurance was no longer accepted by the practice. She was not informed of this before her appointment or during it a

I do not recommend this practice due to the billing issues I have experienced. I had a cleaning on March 24th, during which it was determined that I needed three crowns. At the time, my insurance was set to end on March 30th, and I specifically wanted to complete the crowns before that date so they would be covered under my existing plan. I was moving to a new dental play April 1st and would use that plan for any additional work I needed. Javon advised me that my current plan paid well and that it would be beneficial to proceed with all three crowns. I was given an estimated out-of-pocket cost of $2,100, which was set up on a three-payment plan. However, while I was shown a treatment plan to sign, I was never provided a copy at that time. On March 30th, I had all three crowns completed and paid the first installment of $733. The remaining payments were scheduled for May 15th and June 15th. I was told to return in three weeks for the permanent crowns. I also requested a breakdown of charges, but the statement I received was unclear and did not distinguish between insurance payments and my responsibility. Before my follow-up appointment, I received Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)

I never thought I’d be leaving a glowing review about a place that’s about to remove some of my teeth, but here we are 😂 Prairie Star Dental in Round Rock is honestly top-tier. From the moment I walked in, the staff treated me like I was a VIP instead of someone nervously clutching their jaw. Everyone was super friendly, upbeat, and somehow made a dental visit feel… dare I say… enjoyable? Not really… And the dentist? Absolute solid dude. The kind of person who makes you feel like you’re in good hands even when sharp objects are involved. He explained everything clearly, didn’t rush, and had that calm confidence that makes you think, “yeah, this guy could probably rebuild my whole mouth if needed.” I’m actually going back (willingly!) for extractions and a deep cleaning, which says a lot because normally I’d rather fight a raccoon than schedule dental work. But with this crew? I’m not even stressing. If you need dental work and want a team that’s skilled, welcoming, and just genuinely cool people—this is the place. 10/10, would let them mess with my teeth again.

I loved my first visit to Prairie Star Dental, which is an odd thing to say about a dentist visit, but true!!! Everyone from reception, to my hygienist, Kerri, to the dentist were amazing. They were pleasant and made the experience relaxing. They all were also extremely informative, and I was completely comfortable asking questions. They exceeded my expectations! I found my new dental home!
